Lisbon hosts the 7th edition of ICNF – International Conference on Natural Fibers

From June 16 to 18, Lisbon will host the 7th edition of the International Conference on Natural Fibers (ICNF 2025), a world-renowned event in the field of natural fibers and sustainability. Under the theme “Regenerative Solutions,” ICNF 2025 will bring together researchers, companies, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to discuss the latest scientific and technological developments in this strategic sector.

Organized by the University of Minho, Fibrenamics, and Sciencentris, with media partner from Pragmatic, the conference will take place at the Eurostars Universal Hotel in Lisbon. The program includes parallel sessions, oral and poster presentations, keynote lectures by international experts, a product exhibition area, and several social and networking activities.

ICNF 2025 stands out for its impressive numbers: 317 scientific paper submissions, 287 presentations (oral, poster, or included in the Book of Abstracts), and 285 registered participants representing 59 different nationalities, reinforcing the conference's global and interdisciplinary scope.

Several leading academic and research institutions will be represented, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Toronto, Indian Institute of Technology, Imperial College London, INRAE, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Kimberly-Clark Corporation and National Research Council.

A key highlight of this year’s edition is the Fibrenamics Special Session, scheduled for June 17 from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM, showcasing six scientific presentations developed by the Fibrenamics team. These works cover topics such as waste valorization, textile functionalization, and the development of circular solutions based on natural fibers.
