Design of multifunctional technical nonwoven and hybrid

Development of multilayer hybrid non-woven materials produced through an innovative concept: the combination of fibers, structures, or both.

This project, created from the collaboration between the company Pastofo and Fibrenamics - University of Minho, aimed at the development of multilayer hybrid non-woven materials produced through an innovative concept: the combination of fibers, structures, or both.

Innovation
With the use of a line of needled non-woven materials, the development of structures with combined functions to fulfil technical requirements that conventional structures could not satisfy. There were several areas of expertise that this project embraced, namely the civil construction (thermal and acoustic insulation), geotechnical, footwear and bedding.

Results
As a result from the project, a shoe for senior people that presents the shoe and slipper functionality was developed with materials produced in Pastofo company. The project allowed to define the best conditions for the shoe development, to suggest changes and the obtained shoe was compared with the products developed comparison between the machine parameters were also studied how they worked, suggested changes, and only compared the products developed in-house.
The prototype was developed in partnership with the Pastofo and the shoe factory José André.
