Eco-ERT

Interactive multilayer coatings based on sustainable solutions.

This R&D project, sponsored by ERT in partnership with Fibrenamics - University of Minho, aimed to carry out research and development activities that allows for obtaining the necessary knowledge for the development of an innovative line of multilayer boards based on recycled and/or natural materials (using a lamination technique) able to develop several functions simultaneously through the:
● Utilization of waste materials and by-products;
● Use of natural fibers;
● Use of natural or biodegradable polymeric binders.
The resulting line of products presented the following characteristics:
● Functional layers allowing the product to perform different functions;
● Lightness;
● Ease of application;
● “Environmentally friendly” materials.

Innovation
The innovative concept explored within this project aimed a combination of functional layers in agreement with the technical requirements of three specific areas: civil construction, interior architecture, and cars.
