F.D.G. promotes the PredictWear Project – FIAÇÃO DA GRAÇA S.A., under project no. 18381, operation code COMPETE2030-FEDER-01470500.
The PredictWear project arises from the growing need to develop multifunctional textile yarns that simultaneously meet distinct requirements, particularly in the fields of personal protection, workwear, and sportswear. Currently, the market offers isolated solutions for each of these functionalities but lacks integrated products. Additionally, there is increasing pressure to develop more durable and sustainable materials, aligned with the goals of the circular economy and waste reduction.
In response, the project proposes the development of multifunctional materials and the integration of digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital twins, to optimize yarn development and performance, promoting innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in the textile sector.
Summary:
The project aims to develop high-performance yarns for the personal protection, workwear, and sports sectors, supported by artificial intelligence (AI). The proposed strategy is designed to meet both the external demands of the market and the internal needs of the organization.
To achieve this goal, a set of specific objectives has been defined, namely:
- Development of a high-performance yarn with mechanical protection, flame resistance, and enhanced comfort properties, particularly moisture management;
- Development of a high-performance yarn capable of forming a fibrous structure with an extended service life.
In addition to these objectives, the project also aims to create a virtual tool, powered by AI, to support the yarn development process. This tool will help maximize yarn performance while minimizing the number of technical iterations required.
This approach will enable FDG to develop innovative products with a strong technological component for high-value-added sectors, combining the key pillars of performance and digitalization.
